This episode of The Apprentice, White House Edition, was by far the most entertaining. For months, I have been speculating about who would be the face of this office. My first pick was obviously Jessica Kraus of House Inhabit (Should we retire the word obviously? When Kamala came out with that as her campaign slogan I knew her days were numbered. I digress...) I never got around to asking Jessica if that was a position she even wanted. She would have to move to DC full time and face her press enemies daily. I doubt the she would want to duke it out with sub-par journalists whose nasty comments lead to dismal articles full of fake news. That does not sound very chic to me.
When Roseanne Barr had Bobby on her podcast I fell in love with her all over again. She seemed so down to earth, so real. I loved seeing her as a Mom and grandmother both her and her jokes have aged well. But her language seemed crass and I always flash back to when she grabbed her crotch after singing the National Anthem. I love Roseanne and her smoking, these girls with their vapes look like they are sucking on a flash drive and it all seems so to sad to me, but the smoking won’t blend with MAHA.
Tucker Carlson was another name thrown around but he has his own empire now and it seems he is over being a DC resident. Again, I haven’t asked him personally but he has retired the bow tie and I feel like this job might require a lot of drinking, something else he has retired. I’m a subscriber to his network and he is paving the way for independent journalists so we need him live from his barn in Maine. A fellow Georgia girl, Savannah Chrisley, entered the conversation as a possibility. Sadly, her family drama might make it difficult to be successful at the coveted podium position. I am glad that we connected over her support of Bobby and I hope to meet in person. She seems very sweet and has stepped up to be the matriarch of her family in this difficult time which I really admire. So often children get caught up in their parents bad decisions and it can break a family apart. I do think there was a witch hunt after the Chrisley’s as they were very publicly conservative even dubbed ‘The Trumps of the South.’ Atlanta is an ever changing political climate and one of the reasons my parents moved us out of Buckhead in the mid 90’s. Her pivot into broadcasting is admirable and she has been reporting live from Mar-a-Lago, even took her little brother as her date. I am very interested to see if she is offered a position and would be happy to work with her.
For most of Thursday I had Fox News on in the background waiting for the Bobby announcement. During that time I caught an interview with Alina Habba, Trump’s Attorney. They flat out asked her if she was going to be press secretary and I really respected her answer saying she wouldn’t comment and takes her client confidentially agreements very seriously. The interviewer pressed her for an answer and she finally replied that the position wasn’t a good fit for her and was not something she desired. Alina popped up all day as a front runner but I took her for her word and knew she was out.
Enter Arizona for the most insane PR stunt I have ever seen. Melissa Rein Lively named herself Press Secretary and even I got confused and congratulated her. Then I started to watch her Instagram stories. Whoa! She reposted our DM’s, thank goodness she hid my name I would have been mortified. But if I’m going to write to people I should be prepared for it to be shared publicly. A foolish thing to do on my part, lesson learned without any damage. I figured I would go ahead and out myself in case it ever comes into question. We are always asking ourselves at Team Kennedy “Is it Presidential?” My first thought seeing her rant was that this is not highest office material. She trashed every girl in the running and then claimed it was all a joke and that we had been pranked. I’m hoping she will take an interview with me and can tell us in her own words what her thinking was on this “stunt” she certainly got people talking but I am not sure it was good.
Growing up the way I did it was understood that a lady should only be in the press when she is born, gets married, has a baby, and eventually dies. My foray into reality TV humiliated my Mother. After a while I think she sort of liked the attention and eventually saw it as a job opportunity that I desperately needed. And yes Mom the world is changing it’s ok for us to be in the news especially to save the health of our nation.
A woman who did not reply to my DMs over the last few months is Karoline Leavitt. When I would see her pop up in the news I would write a little way to go! I know it can be very lonely fighting this fight and I wanted her to know she was not alone. When I looked her up I learned she grew up in a small idyllic New Hampshire town. She went to school on a softball scholarship and started the Broadcasting Club at Saint Anselm College. The summer before her senior year she interned at the White House and was offered a job after completing school. In 2022 she ran for US House of Representatives and won the Republican primary making her the second member of GenZ to win a congressional primary. She eventually lost to a Democrat but that kept her schedule open and she was able to take a job with Trump in 2024 running his Presidential campaign. Her son was born that summer and after the assassination attempt she felt a calling to go back to work. Her husband and mother stepped up to help with the newborn so she could focus on the campaign. This story is so inspiring to me and even makes me a bit emotional. Everyone is saying she is too young but I clearly remember being 27 and having the same fire in my belly. She is exactly what America needs to see at the helm. A working Mom who puts country, family, and God first. In this election married women overwhelming voted for Trump and the single ones have bashed us. I say us because on paper I am a single dog lady but in real life I have lived with my boyfriend for 5 years helping him to raise his daughter. Even though I am not married and do not plan to ever have the courts involved in my love life again I ‘identify’ as married. I am excited to see Karoline’s son Niko grow up in the White House and show the world that a woman really can have it all, a great job, raise a family and that it is ok to get a little press for the right reasons. Good Luck Caroline we are all cheering for you and ready to help just say the word.
Great story!
