The night felt like New Year’s Eve and everyone was waiting for the Balloons to drop. Outside it was stormy but in the Rooftop cabana of The Ben Hotel it was calm and jovial. American Values, a PAC that supports idependent leaders, hosted the evening. They have been very supportive of Robert Kennedy jr. since the beginning and have aided in amplifying his message. Tonight they brought together people from all walks of life, business professionals, musicians, independent journalist and everyday people all hoping to save the world or at least return us to some sort of common sense.
A quick trip coast to coast but one I will remember for the rest of my life. I left Los Angeles Monday morning before the election. It was an easy travel day, JetBlue direct to Fort Lauderdale. We rented a car and made our way north. I luckily had a friend willing to put us up as hotels were either sold out or insanely expensive. I was also looking forward to seeing some old familiar faces.
From the air I watched Meryl Streep and her interpretation of Margaret Thatcher. The Iron Lady is a visually stunning political film that shares the ideas of conservative strength in an attempt to have peace. This film also shows what it means to age, to lose power and to fade into the background. Celebrities and their endorsements have been a huge plot of this election cycle. I believe many of these famous faces are going to have a shock when all the votes have been tallied and they see how out of touch they are with their fellow man.
Somewhere half way through a bloody mary I stared to fantasizing about my Palm Beach experience. A blend of Magda meets Slim Aarons on the Fourth of July. The excitement was killing me and making it hard to sit still - no hope of sleep. We got in around 8pm and the first thing we saw was a man on a Harley with LED lights smoking a cig with no helmet, Florida Man, in the flesh living free.
Still from The Iron Lady (2011)
Magda, Something About Mary (1998)
Slim Aarons, Palm Beach Society (1968). Bobby’s Dad started his presidential campaign that same spring.
I searched ‘Florida Man + Motorcycle” and this is what came up, wildly accurate to what I saw. credit @Vice
Tuesday morning we tried to keep the spirit light our hosts were a house divided and we didn’t want to come in hot for the Trump train. The tensions have been so high on both sides as everyone feels there is much to lose. I don’t like the pressure but have been keeping tabs on my Vegas bets and we have been up all morning. When they went to vote I saw it as a good time to have nice dip in the ocean. Tropical storm Rafael is rolling through and the ocean water was what surfers describe as a washing machine. I didn’t swim for long as the waves were knocking me around and it was a pretty strong current but it was long enough to let the warm salt water calm me. Over on Instagram my story photo of a washed up faux Gucci flip flop got a few hearts. “Things that wash up in Palm Beach” I dubbed the shoe. We have to laugh a little along the way or we will fall apart. Down the beach blew Old Glory and reminded me why I’m really here.
Our local friends organized a lunch at Sant Ambroeus. I was so happy to have our little friend group back together and we talked anything but politics. The chablis was flowing and the burgers were a plenty. The girls excused ourselves to hit the shops before we had to change for the evening and the big event. As I was walking out of the restaurant I ran into Dabney Mercer, a Palm Beach staple and old friend of mine. We used to run around New York City like maniacs in our 20’s. Many of you may know her sister Tinsley Mortimer from Housewives of NYC. Dabney has a little girl now and shared photos before giving me a bright pink hug wrapping me in her Gucci Cardigan. Our time to explore was limited so we went to Marissa Collections a one stop shop of darling babbles. A wonderful lady by the name of Madeline offered me some Champagne and toured me around the shop. She was very sweet and confided in me that she was a ‘Southern Charm’ fan. Together we laughed over cast mate shenanigans of the past. As we strolled I fell in love with seashell pillows by Tamar Mogendorff, the gem bar by Carolina Bucci and an antique mirror, perfectly Palm Beach and its gilded glory. I didn’t know it then but this artifact was a glimpse ahead to The Golden Age of America and my sincere hope for our future.
I quickly changed and headed to Kennedy HQ as the polls were closing on the east coast. My first encounter was with Jessica and Denise of House Inhabit. They have become the gold standard of social influencers. Jessica’s posts have opened peoples mind to vote beyond their party of comfort. We met for the first time a year ago but I have been following ever since the Johnny Deep trail. Back when we were supposed to believe all woman a concept that still doens’t still well with me. I saw House Inhabit grow from 100K followers to over a million. The reason I write today is because she made so many of us feel heard and thus made me want to share my voice. I am aware that I embody what so many Democratic have been trained to hate. Without slinging mud I want to share my side of things and let readers decide for themselves the content of my character. I posted this photo of us the next day and very cheekily wrote, common sense club now - accepting new members. I’m not sure if it was the red hats or the pure joy that upset so many people. This month alone I have lost 10k followers. I’m sad so many are triggered by the color but shocked by woman supporting men. Personally, I feel I’m supporting a team of people who are ready to regulate more than any one person. I see how this concept is confusing to some when we have been taught to separate things as black or white, good or evil.
Bobby made a beautiful speech where he welcomed and thanked everyone for their hard work and then handed it back to the ladies namely is wife Cheryl and daughter in law, Amaryliss Fox, who also ran his campaign. Trump and Kennedy are both heavily female staffed, a detail media likes to overlook in their quest to push the toxic masqulinity narrative. Amaryliss spoke and stoically quoted Shakespear, we few, we happy few, we and of brothers, and it gave me chills. As we waiting for the polls to close nationwide we had more speeches and a short film premiered by Del Bigtree. Del ran this digital side of things producing all of the wonderful campaign videos. It was a beautiful story touching on Bobby’s struggles both past and present and his vision for this country. It will be released to the public shortly and I will share the full video but here’s a little teaser. Also on hand for entertainment was Jimmy Levy. He made quite the splash when he publicly endorsed Trump. Jimmy shared about how he turned down a $10 million dollar recored deal because they wanted to censor him and not allow him to talk about God or Trump. I found his song “Welcome to the Revolution” very moving and perfect for the night. Jimmy is gifted with a truly beautiful voice and I’m glad he is using his to help share Bobby’s message with his audience and the world.
I made it to midnight no problem but was beginning to lose steam. Realizing the balloons might not drop tonight was called it at 1:30am we called it and started to head home. Not realizing it but we drove right by the conference center that was used as Trump Headquarters for the evening. Cops were everywhere waiting for the Trump family to arrive. Since we were dead stopped and the officers said it would be a few minutes I hopped out of the car barefoot and ran up the grassy shoulder to take a few photos. It wasn’t until we made it home that the news was properly confirmed, Donald Trump would be our next president. In his speech he promised a Golden Age for America and I pray he delivers.
Lol girl did you voice to text this article? Be honest 😆 so many typos! Hope you’re enjoying being part of the third reich!
