Meghan’s production team reached out to have me on her new show Happy Hour and I was honored but also nervous because I knew she would want to talk politics. The nice thing about being on the campaign trail with RFKjr. was that he was always in the spotlight and I was just there to make people feel at home. There was no pressure on me and it all just felt fun. What southern belle doesn’t love to entertain?
I approached every event as a backyard BBQ hoping to make new friends. I shared my experience on social media and like to think I helped create some faith in the movement. I have not given any interviews since before election day. I felt it was important to stay quiet and let the voters do the talking. Once Trump won, with record numbers, I again felt the urge to stay quiet until Mr. Kennedy was confirmed. Did y’all watch those hearings they were so intense! One Senator compared Bobby to a rockstar with all him MAHA Moms outside of the Capital. Another lady got dragged out, mask and all, after interrupting the proceedings. A very long and stressful couple of weeks but he emerged as Secretary Kennedy and the whole team was overcome with emotion.
Now that we are officially in go mode I feel comfortable talking about my experience. Meghan was wonderful and felt like an old friend. I learned that her husband is from Charleston and that her Dad attended the same prep school as Shep. We talked all things Southern Charm and how internet sleuths were trying to figure out the casts political preference. Some even speculating that Craig has a ghost republican account, which you know I’m going to ask him about! I will report back. We also laughed about the news that White Lotus creator Mike White told his cast to watch us and study how to be southern. I’m just waiting to see are we the first to die or will the patriarchy be redeemed and save the day.
I also enjoyed learning about 2way.tv they are self described as, “a revolutionary live video platform that transforms traditional viewing experiences into dynamic, participatory events, allowing creators and thinkers to engage with their most devoted followers.” It was so cool to have a listener join us in real time to ask questions and interact. The platform was created by a seasoned news reporter and writer, Mark Halperin. Plan to see more amazing things from them in the future.
