Final Countdown...
California and the mass exodus plus tensions rise during the final days to vote.
It is 8am Wednesday morning and I’ve already been reprimanded by school traffic at drop off. Passive aggressive “Have a wonderful day” comments have been exchanged and I’m happy to be back at my desk and finding time to write. That interaction brought negative energy into my car and reminded me how high public pressure is right now. Like a tea kettle about to boil over.
I wanted this entry to recap my weekend and how I helped another friend pack up to move out of California. The lawlessness and ridiculous policies have created a mass exodus with Elon leading the charge. As I made my Morning Martini coffee and turned on The Faulkner Focus who should pop up but Mr. Link Lauren. For me Team Kennedy has been so personal and I was really annoyed with him and his exit from the campaign. I saw it as terribly disloyal. How can he not believe? How can he be saying hurtful things, the ones about little Bobby really got to me. Be gone with you…
Today I am able to zoom out a bit and see the bigger picture. I don’t have to be the defensive big sister trying to protect everyone. Here is a little clip I recorded of the conversation. He explains how he saw there was no way for Bobby to win and encourage him to sit down with Trump.
I loved that someone so young was interested in what we were trying to achieve but also wasn’t as emotionally involved and wanted a bit of fame and fortune for himself, which I totally think he has earned. We were sued by the dems in almost every state when trying to get on the ballots but we still did it in all 50 states! But when Bobby bowed out they then sued saying he could not get off the ballots. A tactic designed to split the votes, take up time and potentially bankrupt the campaign. It worked, but then it massively backfired as the actual party of unity was able to put down their differences and join forces to make what I consider the dream team of politics. Everyday I feel like we are closer to victory but holding my breath for the “October Surprise” which I’m sure is just another tactic to get into the psyche. You really need a psychology degree to enter the political arena. I don’t have one but I have worked in Real Estate and Hollywood for almost 20 years so know a bit about handling eccentrics and the games they play. I’m going to sheepishly refollow Link today and just maybe he will read this. He certainly has been fighting the good fight.
Down in Solana this weekend I went to say good bye to my college roommate, I could write a novel about all that we have been through together. For now, I want to help her to the next chapter which means packing up to go home to Texas. Not Dallas where she grew up but the hippie sister that is Austin. I have never been which seems to blow people minds as apparently it’s my kind of town and now I have a really good reason to go. The one time I was meant to be there was with Bobby III for a film we made about Hunter S. Thompson running for sheriff of Aspen. The day before we were meant to go to Austin the festival got cancelled due to covid. Now I see that as a wild foreshadowing, a movie about a campaign and the premiere shut down due to a pandemic. Sometimes art really does become life. Here we are running a real campaign and fighting back against that very lockdown. (Side note it also broke today that Bill Gates will face charges in the Netherlands over alleged covid 19 vaccine injuries. The news is coming so fast and I’m trying to keep up!)
I look forward to my Austin adventures and my friend know she will always have a place with me in California, but its not the same. Honestly, I would have left too if it wasn’t for my boyfriend who is born and raised in Santa Monica and says someone has to stay and fight. I’ll never forget going to Charleston during lock down and all the bars were packed not a mask in sight. While in LA I was pursued by a woman in a mask yelling at me for hiking without one. The Democratic states verse the Republican ones truly are a different mind set. That is why so many of my Texas friend are furious about the Californians moving to Texas to escape the policies they put in place and then come to a red state and lecture everyone, it is so arrogant! I don’t know how to get them to understand what freedom really means. If you have any ideas please leave them in the comments.
