When I was about 12 my parents put a record player in my room and I used to fall asleep to Bob Dylan. I loved the stories and the melodies even though I was too young to fully understand the message. Looking back now I feel like it was their way of telling me about their past life in the 60’s and 70’s through song. As I started piecing these stories together in my head to share with y’all I was just going to write about the movie and how I was worried I would hate the film. The movie turned out to be brilliant every set, every costume, every cast member. The next day the news broke that we had lost Georgia’s greatest son, Jimmy Carter. My thoughts shifted and the movie and times became even more meaningful.

Mr. Carter was been dubbed ‘The Rock and Roll President’ he welcomed these misfits into The White House with open arms. When Duane Allman got in trouble for drugs Mr. Carter didn’t shame him he tried to help him. The President knew it wasn’t his place to judge these artists but to shepard them to a righteous path. Jimmy Carter said, “It was The Allman Brothers who helped put me in the White House by raising money when I didn't have any money.” He opened his heart to these young people and all their follies while also trying to understand the mindset of the youth.
